Gertrude Ederle | Woman of the month
She was told to get out of the water.
In 1926, Gertrude Ederle became the first woman to swim the English Channel. 35 miles of cold, rough Atlantic water. Her trainer stopped the boat mid-crossing and told her to quit — the waves were too high, it was too dangerous.
She kept swimming.
She finished in 14 hours and 31 minutes. Two hours faster than any man had done it before her.
The newspapers called it a fluke. The industry called her an anomaly. She was 20 years old.
Aylima was built for skin that works. Not skin that performs for a room — skin that shows up, day after day, for the life it's already part of.
